One that’ll keep you going all day long, without the jitters or the crashes that come with the black stuff. With two bars in Central London, Spitalfields and Selfridges we have a third opening in May and are primed for rapid expansion this year.

Role: Full-time Kitchen Assistant (Monday-Friday)

Kitchen Location: SE24 0JU, London

Salary: £28,000

Starting: Immediately

Job description:

We are looking for a full-time kitchen assistant to join our growing kitchen team in Herne Hill. You will be responsible for preparing, developing and distributing all JENKI menu items required across multiple locations in London with a focus on matcha bakes, healthy snacks and syrups. You’ll be working with natural ingredients, developing innovative flavours and recipes for customers to enjoy at our matcha bars and beyond. 

We are looking for an individual who has strong organisational and communication skills and the ability to manage their time productively and efficiently. If you’re a passionate chef with an interest in recipe development, a taste for matcha, and trying new recipes and flavour combinations, we’d love to hear from you! 

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Kitchen Manager and Bar Operations Manager
  • Supporting the manager in the kitchen; overseeing its appliances, food orders and deliveries and preparation of products for the matcha bars.
  • Supporting the kitchen team on menu development, seasonal launches and product innovation
  • Overseeing inventory, invoices and ordering supplies/ingredients to ensure smooth production and timely delivery of products to bars
  • Ensuring the highest level of quality and consistency is upheld
  • Maintaining a clean and organised workspace, following all safety and sanitation guidelines

Requirements:

  • Chef experience essential (at least 1 year or more in a similar environment)
  • Experience in baking/pastry required
  • Experience making syrups/drinks/cocktails would be beneficial but not essential
  • Experience with recipe development would be beneficial but not essential
  • Knowledge of techniques, ingredients, and equipment
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to creating high-quality products
  • Great communication skills and thrives in a team environment
  • Ability to work with nuts (including peanuts and cashews)
