HEAD MATCHARISTA
As the Head Matcharista at JENKI, you will lead our matcharista team to deliver an exceptional matcha experience to our customers. You will be responsible for ensuring high quality matcha and beverages are always served, managing the training and mentoring of our matcharistas, maintaining equipment, and managing inventory. The ideal candidate has a passion for matcha, exceptional customer service skills and a strong leadership and people skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Matcha Preparation and Service:
- Prepare and serve high-quality matcha beverages, including traditional matcha tea, matcha lattes, and our special matcha drinks.
- Develop and maintain expertise in matcha preparation methods and techniques

Ensure all beverages meet company standards for quality and presentation.
Team Leadership and Training:
- Train and mentor matcharista staff on matcha preparation techniques, customer service, and company protocols.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to matcharistas
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.

Compile training plans for different levels of matcharistas.
Quality Control and Maintenance:
- Regularly monitor the quality of matcha powder, milk, syrups, and other ingredients.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of matcha equipment.

Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the matcha bar area.
Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing any customer inquiries or concerns promptly and professionally.

Educate customers about our matcha offerings and make recommendations based on their preferences.
Inventory and Supply Management:
- Manage inventory levels of matcha powder, milk, syrups, and other supplies.

Place orders with suppliers and manage relationships with vendors - Subject to Managers approval.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, ensuring the Bar is ready for service.
- Implement and uphold health and safety standards.
Additional Expectations:
Communication:
As the Head Matcharista of the bar, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are contactable and responsive to your team and the wider business. Your point of contact is your Bar Manager and Bar Operations Manager.
Confidentiality:
Due to the nature of your role, you will be involved with decision making, team reviews as well as financial and wider company information. This information must be kept confidential and not shared with anyone outside of these conversations.
Punctuality:
As a Head Matcharista, there are no excuses for being late or missing shifts, or meetings. You must be on time for all the shifts and meetings. If you cannot be for any personal reasons, or transport issues, this needs to be communicated to your Bar Manager.
Salary: £14/hr
Probation Period: 6 months
